How SerenityLease collects, uses, and protects personal information.

This document is a starting-point template, not legal advice. Have a licensed attorney review and adapt it for your business before relying on it in production.

Information we collect

We collect: account details (name, email, phone, password hash); property and listing data you enter; rental-application information submitted by tenants (identity, residence and employment history, references, and disclosures); payment and payout details processed through Stripe; documents you upload; and usage and device data (log data, cookies) to operate and secure the Service.

What we deliberately do NOT collect

We do not collect or store applicants’ Social Security numbers or full credit reports. Tenant screening is run by an independent, FCRA-credentialed provider that captures that sensitive data directly; only the result is shared with the landlord. See our FCRA notice.

How we use information

To provide and improve the Service; process subscriptions and rent payments; deliver applications, leases, maintenance, and messaging between landlords and tenants; send transactional notifications; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share information

We share data with service providers who help us run the Service, including: Stripe (payments), tenant-screening providers, email/SMS providers, cloud hosting and file storage, mapping providers, and — only when you connect them — social platforms for publishing. We may disclose information to comply with law or protect rights and safety. We require providers to safeguard the data they handle.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies (for example, to keep you signed in) and limited analytics. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling necessary cookies may break core features like login.

Data retention and security

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls), though no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Your rights (including California residents)

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — we do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, email privacy@serenitylease.com; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Questions or requests? Contact us or email privacy@serenitylease.com.
